NEWS: Parliamentary event and ‘280 Characters’ ebook launch

Published by samcunningham on

We were extremely pleased to host our first parliamentary event on 5th of March, titled ‘Social media in politics: spreading fake news or strengthening democracy?’ on the 5th of March. We saw Lord Andrew Adonis, former Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron, historian Sir Anthony Seldon, academic Dr. Tim Highfield and former diplomat and Oxford University professor, Dr. Jennifer Cassidy, give their take on the evolution of political communication in this digital age. Thanks to everyone who came, and we look forward to seeing you all again soon!

We were aso pleased to launch our ebook, ‘280 Characters’, in Parliament last night, which puts into writing the debate surrounding social media in politics and whether it strengthens or weakens our democracy. Four of our fantastic speakers from the event on the 5th also contributed to this first edition, which we hope will be the first of many as we look to bring together 280 indivduals (yes, ‘280 characters’!) from the world of politics and academia to give their views on this important topic.

You can view the first edition, which features the first 4 of our contributors, who kindly spoke at our event last night: Tim Farron MP, Lord Andrew Adonis, Dr. Jennifer Cassidy and Sir Anthony Seldon, here.

Watch this space for more editions, and we look forward to meeting you at our future events!
